If you really want to rough up an intruder, lay out some flat rocks starting at the base of the trip wire for about seven feet forward. These high tech traps are simple to rig up and really effected against looters. That way, an intruder will trigger startling light, and sound and it'll tip you off that someone is on your property. Simply rig motion detectors around your property hooked up to fairly simple circuits to bright lights and loud noise makers.
